I along with I hope many people watch in despair as the earth loses plants and animals at an alarming rate.
Most of us try to be aware and act responsibly to preserve what life is left and we must continue to do this.
In truth what we are seeing is the start of the 6th mass extinction event The Holocene extinction, also known as the Anthropocene extinction, which is an ongoing extinction event caused exclusively by human activities during the Holocene epoch.
When we think of extinction events we normally think of the dramatic one that caused the end of the dinosaurs and this was indeed largely due to a cataclysmic impact of a giant meteorite hitting the earth. You could ask if this had not happened would it have been a long drawn out extinction caused by over population, starvation and greed as we are seeing now in our own time.
Mankind is at the heart of this event and it is up to us to stop it if we can but this requires changes like we have never seen, a new revolution in the way economics work, how politics work and how we live our lives otherwise nature will let us become extinct and welcome the next era.
